Recital and Master Class

Praised by the New York Times as “excellent,” Katherine Siochi is an award-winning classical harpist residing in New York City. Katherine is the 2016 gold medalist of the 10th USA International Harp Competition, one of the world’s most prestigious harp contests. As Concert Artist, Katherine is presenting recitals and masterclasses in over 20 cities across the US. Her performances have been featured on NPR’s radio program “From The Top,” on New York Public Radio.  www.katherinesiochi.com

Program includes music by Debussy, Chopin, Parish-Alvars, Ravel, Salzedo, and others.  Meet the artist reception follows the recital.

BAY AREA WEEKEND with SUSANN McDONALD

Susann_McDonaldSusann McDonald, renowned harpist, recording artist, and teacher, is came to the Bay Area for three spectacular events that took place February 25, 26 and 28, 2017.  Participants and Auditors learned and benefited from Master Classes with this trailblazing artist who has elevated the harp and inspired harp students around the world through a performing and teaching career that spans more than five decades.

Harpist Yuying Chen in Recital at Peninsula Jewish Community Center

Yuying Chen 2Award winning harpist and first prize winner of the 19th Israel International Harp Contest (2015), Yuying Chen, performed works by Renié, Grandjany, de Falla, Tchaikovsky, Liszt and Bach.

The people fortunate to attend the this special (sold out) one-night-only concert, followed by a “meet the artist” dessert reception, were treated to a delightful evening of extraordinary harp performance.

Master Class with Yuying Chen Wednesday, June 15, 2016 from 6:00pm to 8:30pm at a private home in Hillsborough.

BACAHS Spring Social Featuring Recital by Naomi Hoffmeyer at the home of Henry Heines and Katherine Fines in Western Sonoma Hoffmeyer_standing+headshotCounty (between Sebastopol and Occidental).  Come and bring your friends.  The afternoon is open to all who love music and sunny afternoons.

Highlights of Naomi’s performance included Salzedo’s Ballade, Jeremiah Siochi’s Sublimation (the piece that was commissioned for the USA International Harp Competition), and Caplet Divertissements.

Fearless Improv Workshop 1:30-4:30pm
Hands-on workshop for lever and pedal harpists. You did not have to play the harp—auditors invited to attend.

Participants created music in the moment in the company of other adventurous harpists! Explored the tremendous range of expression, color, and texture of your harp through improvisation. Fun experiments and games broke the ice; this workshop will opened you to all sorts of ideas for having fun or even goofing off with your harp! All ages and levels welcome. Participants brought their harps and lever harpists tuned to 3 flats.

Recital 6:30pm
Program to included music by Renié, deFalla, Ellington, a-ha, Tournier, Piazolla, Mercury and more. Traditional harp repertoire was paired with Jamieson’s own transcriptions of popular and jazz works. Special guest appearance in ensemble by Bay Area harpists: Natalie Cox, Alexandra Perdew, Diana Rowan. Reception to follow.
